Professor Karen Mossman receives funding from OICR for developing innovative ways to diagnose and treat cancer
CDCR PI Professor Karen Mossman is one of eight scientists to have received funding from the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) for their Pre-Clinical Acceleration Team Awards, which are part of the OICR Clinical Translational Pathway. They help advance new discoveries so that they can benefit people affected by cancer.
The Mossman Lab is currently researching a new cancer therapy known as an ‘oncolytic virus’. This treatment, developed by Dr. Mossman and her colleagues, has demonstrated potential in treating pancreatic, lung, and colorectal cancers with minimal side effects. The team’s focus is on identifying biological indicators that can help determine which patients will benefit from this therapy. They are also working to establish the most effective dosage and method of administration.
Professor Mossman noted, “We hope our work will help people live longer with better quality of life during and after cancer treatment, and help more people in Canada access the best treatment options.”
Congratulations, Professor Mossman!
